Kepler
This mission (NASA, launched in 2009), following in the footsteps of CoRoT, also combines stellar seismology with the search for exoplanets. The team is actively involved in data analysis.
Status
In operation
Key Dates (tentative)
Launch: 2009.
Key Steps
- Dual Scientific Mission :
- Stellar seismology: The study of stellar oscillations to understand the structure and evolution of stars.
- The Search for Exoplanets: Detection Using the Transit Method (measuring drops in brightness as planets pass in front of their stars).
- Team Participation :
- Active use of data for both aspects of the mission.
