To apply through the CNRS:
THE CNRS
The CNRS is a major player in basic research on a global scale. The CNRS is the only French organization active in all scientific fields. Its unique position as a multidisciplinary organization enables it to bring together different disciplines to tackle the most significant challenges of the modern world, in collaboration with key stakeholders.
The IAS
The Institute of Space Astrophysics (IAS) is a joint unit of the CNRS and Paris-Saclay University, located on the Orsay university campus (91). It is part of the Paris-Saclay University Observatory of Universe Sciences (OSUPS). It is a laboratory with approximately 130 staff members that designs, develops, operates, and maintains space, rocket, balloon, and ground-based instrumentation. The laboratory is involved in major space projects in astrophysics, in collaboration with national (CNES) and international (ESA, NASA, JAXA) space agencies. The IAS’s research areas are: “Cosmology and Extragalactic Astrophysics,” “Astrophysics of Interstellar Matter,” “Astrochemistry and Origins,” “Solar System and Planetary Systems,” and “Solar Physics.”
Technical development of the instruments is carried out by the laboratory’s departments—optics, mechanics, computing, instrumentation, and electronics—whose staff are specialists in their respective fields. In addition, the laboratory operates two platforms recognized by CNES and INSU: the “IDOC platform” and the “Calibration Station platform.”
Numerous cultural and sports activities are offered and easily accessible to all employees as part of the workplace well-being policy developed at Paris-Saclay University.
